Battlefield 6 Campaign Walkthrough: All 9 Missions, Dagger 13 vs Pax Armata
The Campaign Nobody Expected to Be Good
I went into the Battlefield 6 campaign with low expectations. Battlefield campaigns have always been the appetizer before the multiplayer main course. But the Dagger 13 storyline - a Marine Raiders squad hunting down the shadowy Pax Armata PMC across 2027-2028 NATO flashpoints - actually surprised me. Nine missions, each about 45 minutes. The writing isn't going to win awards, but the set pieces are genuinely good and the tactical destruction carries over from multiplayer.
You play as a member of Dagger 13, a US Marine Raiders unit. The backdrop is bleak: NATO is falling apart as key European nations pull out, creating the kind of power vacuum that private military companies dream about. Pax Armata, bankrolled by an unknown coalition, is running proxy operations against remaining NATO targets. Your job is to figure out who's behind them and shut it down.
Mission 1: Flashpoint - Baltic Coast
The opening mission drops you into a Baltic coastal town at dawn. It's the tutorial mission but it doesn't feel like one. You learn the basics of the weapon attachment budget system and squad commands through a series of building-to-building clearances.
The key mechanic here is the squad command wheel. Hold the ping button and you can direct your AI squadmates to breach, cover, or flank. I ignored this my first playthrough and tried to Rambo every room. Don't. The AI teammates are actually useful in this campaign - they'll clear rooms if you tell them to and their aim isn't terrible.
There's a weapon crate in the second warehouse with an M5A3 configured for medium range. Grab it. The default SMG loadout makes the outdoor courtyard section harder than it needs to be. At the dock, use the explosive barrels near the crane to take out the Pax Armata technical truck. Three shots to the barrel cluster kills the entire crew.
Mission 2: Overcast - North Sea Oil Platform
This is where the campaign shows off. The weather system creates genuinely dangerous conditions - waves crash over the platform, visibility drops to near zero in fog banks, and the rain affects bullet trajectory at long range. I missed a shot at 100 meters because of wind drift and nearly threw my controller.
You'll want a DMR here. The platform has long sightlines between rigs that SMGs can't handle. The SVK is found in the armory before you go topside. Don't skip it. The platform has three objectives: disable the comms relay, secure the intel room, and extract via helicopter.
The intel room section is the hardest. Pax Armata heavies with shotguns patrol the narrow corridors. Use the grenade launcher underbarrel - there's one attached to a rifle in the security office. Flashbangs through doorways before entry will save you at least 3-4 deaths.
Watch the helicopter extract sequence. If you didn't clear the landing pad of RPG troops, your chopper gets shot down and you restart the entire platform section. There are two RPG gunners: one on the east catwalk and one behind the fuel tanks on the west side. Clear them before calling the chopper.
Mission 3: Iron Curtain - Former Soviet Border
Snow mission. Bring thermal optics if you can find them - the whiteout conditions make iron sights nearly useless. The tank section halfway through is a brief power fantasy. You commandeer a Pax Armata T-28 and push through a checkpoint. The tank's main gun has significant drop at range, so aim higher than feels natural beyond 200 meters.
The moral choice moment in this mission is interesting. You encounter a Pax Armata supply convoy carrying civilian prisoners. Freeing them gives you intel that unlocks a weapon crate later. Ignoring them pushes you forward faster. I freed them. The intel revealed a hidden anti-materiel rifle in Mission 5 that makes a later boss encounter trivial.
Missions 4-6: The European Collapse Arc
These three missions form the core of the story. Mission 4 takes you through a sieged French city, Mission 5 is an alpine infiltration of a Pax Armata R&D facility, and Mission 6 is the first direct confrontation with the organization's leadership.
The alpine mission (Mission 5) is the campaign's high point. Stealth is actually viable here - suppressors work, bodies can be hidden, and the AI detection is reasonable. If you go loud, expect reinforcements from three different entry points. The anti-materiel rifle from the earlier intel choice spawns in a locked crate near the helipad. The code is 1942 - a DICE easter egg referencing the original Battlefield release year.
Missions 7-9: The Resolution
The final three missions ramp up in difficulty. Mission 7 is a vehicle-heavy urban assault. Mission 8 is a naval operation with ship-to-ship boarding. Mission 9 is the finale - a direct assault on Pax Armata's headquarters.
For the final mission, bring whatever automatic weapon you're most comfortable with and a lot of grenades. The HQ interior is close-quarters with multiple breach points. The final confrontation involves a dialogue choice that affects which ending cinematic plays. Both endings are on YouTube if you don't want to replay, but the canon ending (refuse the deal) is the better one narratively.
One last thing - there are campaign-specific dog tags hidden in every mission. They're not marked and they don't glow. I found exactly 4 of 9 on my first run and missed the one in Mission 3 that's behind the frozen waterfall. Look for textures that seem slightly out of place, especially near mission-start spawn points.
What Difficulty Should You Play On?
The campaign has four difficulty settings but the jump from Normal to Hard is steeper than most shooters. On Hard, enemies flank, use grenades to flush you out of cover, and headshots are lethal. If you're here for the story, Normal is perfectly fine. If you want the achievement, play Hard on a second run after you know the maps.
I did my first run on Normal and my second on Hard. The Hard mode Genuinely changed how I approached each mission - I used squad commands more, actually planned breach sequences, and paid attention to ammo conservation. It's a better game on Hard, but your first run should prioritize learning the layout and story beats.
Quick tip for Hard mode: the squad AI does not scale with difficulty. Your AI teammates are equally effective on Easy and Hard, which means they're actually more valuable on Hard because they can tank shots that would kill you. Use them aggressively. Send them into rooms first. They're bullet sponges in a way you definitely are not.
