Battlefield 6 Toughest Campaign Encounters: How to Beat Every Hard Fight
The Campaign Has Teeth
Battlefield campaigns historically have been shooting galleries. BF6 is not that. Several encounters will genuinely wreck you if you approach them wrong. I died 15 times on one sequence before I figured out the trick, and I've been playing FPS games since the original Modern Warfare.
Here are the four toughest encounters and exactly how to get through them. No generic advice. Specific strategies from someone who banged his head against these walls.
Encounter 1: The Baltic Convoy Ambush (Mission 1)
This is the mission that filters out people who think they can ignore squad commands. About 20 minutes into Mission 1, you reach a highway overpass with a Pax Armata convoy passing underneath. The game tells you to position your squad and initiate the ambush.
If you just start shooting from the overpass, you'll die. The convoy has two technical trucks with .50 cals, an armored transport, and about 15 infantry. The .50 cals will shred your cover in seconds.
The actual strategy: send one squadmate to the fuel truck at the rear of the convoy with the command wheel. They'll plant C4. Send another to the overpass on the far side with a sniper loadout. You take the RPG that's in the ammo crate by the bridge pillar. Detonate the C4 first - it takes out the rear technical and creates panic. The sniper squadmate will pick off the driver of the front technical. You fire the RPG into the armored transport. Cleanup is maybe 6-7 infantry who are scattered and disoriented.
This whole sequence takes about 40 seconds when executed properly. Trying to gunfight it directly took me seven attempts. Honestly ridiculous looking back.
Encounter 2: The Platform Heavy Ambush (Mission 2)
After you secure the intel room on the oil platform, the game throws a curveball. The extraction route is cut off and three Pax Armata heavies breach through different doors simultaneously. Heavies have shotguns and body armor - they can tank a full SMG magazine to the chest.
The trick is the red canisters on their backs. These are fuel tanks for their exoskeleton rigs. Three shots to the canister kills a heavy instantly. One shot to the canister makes them stagger, giving you a clear window for a headshot. The canisters are visible from the front if they're facing you directly, but easier to hit from the side.
Positioning matters here. When the breach warning pops up, run to the corner of the room opposite the main door. This puts two of the three heavies in your peripheral vision and gives you cover from the third. Target the heavy closest to you first - the one who enters through the east door - because he'll reach you fastest. Then pivot to the main door heavy, then the west door.
There's a shotgun on the weapons rack in the intel room before this fight starts. Grab it. It's a one-shot kill on heavies at close range if you aim center mass. The range is terrible but you're in a small room.
Encounter 3: The Tank Gauntlet (Mission 3)
After you commandeer the T-28, you have to push through a checkpoint defended by two enemy tanks, RPG infantry, and a helicopter. This section is on a timer - if you take too long, reinforcements arrive and you're fighting three tanks.
The friendly tank has smoke launchers. I didn't notice this for the first 8 attempts. Smoke breaks line of sight for enemy tanks and the helicopter, giving you time to reposition. Pop smoke, move to a new firing position, then engage.
Target the helicopter first with the main gun. It takes two direct hits. Don't use the machine gun - it'll pepper the chopper but won't kill it before the rockets kill you. After the chopper is down, focus on one tank at a time. Aim for the turret ring - it's a smaller target but disables their ability to rotate the cannon. A disabled turret means the tank can only shoot directly forward, and you can circle behind it.
RPG infantry spawn from the checkpoint buildings. They fire every 15 seconds or so. Between RPG volleys, you have a window to engage tanks. The rhythm is: kill RPG troops during their reload window, fire one tank shot, check for more RPG troops. Don't get greedy with tank shots.
Encounter 4: The Final HQ Breach (Mission 9)
The last mission throws you into Pax Armata's headquarters - a multi-story building with close-quarters combat, traps, and the final confrontation. The hardest part isn't the final boss, it's the breach sequence through the second floor.
Three breach points: main stairwell, elevator shaft, and exterior window rappel. The main stairwell is a death trap - claymores. The elevator shaft is faster but leaves you exposed. The window rappel gives you a flank angle on the defenders but you need to have a squadmate covering the rappel point.
What worked for me: send one squadmate to rappel (distraction), one through the elevator shaft (secondary entry), and you take the main stairwell after the claymores get triggered by the rappel breach. The claymores have a 2-second arming delay after being triggered - sprint through right as they pop.
The final confrontation with the Pax Armata commander gives you a dialogue choice. Refuse his deal for the canon ending and a tougher fight. Accept it for the alternate ending. The canon ending fight has the commander in an exoskeleton with a minigun. Use the explosive barrels around the room - there are 6 total, and each takes about a third of his health. Kite him around pillars between barrel explosions. Don't try to gunfight him directly. I mean it. His minigun kills in under a second.
One last thing: there's a secret weapon crate in the HQ basement before the final fight. The code is 2042 - a nod to the previous Battlefield game. It contains a prototype railgun with 5 shots. One railgun shot to the commander's head ends the fight instantly. But you have to find the crate, and most people miss it on their first run.
